CycleOps Fluid2

CycleOps Fluid2

My indoor trainer is the CycleOps Fluid2. I just got this kit and did a 60-minute test ride on it yesterday. Great workout without the intermittent stops I'd normally find on roads in Singapore unless I'm out riding before 6am.

TapOut Workout

TapOut Workout

Along with a workout I'm following set up by my coach in the states combined with a workout schedule I got from "The Essential Guide to Triathlon" which is working well for me, I'm currently in week 4 of the TapOut XT program. This one is kicking my ass and is helping me improve both my strength and my endurance. However, this combined with my other event-based workouts might be a bit too much. I have to be careful about not over-training http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/news/articles/2014/09/are-you-overtraining.aspx#axzz3SSFzDrlB But so far, so good.

Compressport

Compressport

My tri shirt and shorts are by Compressport. I've tried a 2XU one-piece trip suit before but didn't like how it felt (I'm partial to sleeved shirts instead of the tank-top shirt style). The Compressport gear is very comfortable on my skin, dries off fast out of the water, and the stitching has never given me any skin problems e.g. chafing.

Nike Free

Nike Free

My shoes are Nike Free "Flyknit" 5.0 I prefer the flat, thinner soles of the Nike Free shoes and have gone through 3 pairs since I started running more consistently. I tried wearing shoes with thicker soles and more pronounced arch support but ended up with a sore back after most runs. Even after 10 or 15k on these shoes I feel no pain in my back, knees, or anywhere else for that matter.

Trek Madone 4.5

Trek Madone 4.5

My bike is a Trek Madone 4.5. It's a great road bike that fits me nicely, though in time I would like to switch to a proper tri bike like this one http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/triathlon/speed_concept/speed_concept_7_0/# by Trek (my preferred choice as it has everything I would want and won't bankrupt me.) However I think I need to prove to myself I can compete before I make the investment. I see a lot of beginner triathletes riding $8k+ bikes who can't seem to maintain an aero position for more than 30 seconds. I don't want to be one of those guys.
